The UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD 40x-2000x microscope allows you to get up close to the small wonders of nature. You can decide how close you want to get – thanks to the two eyepieces and 2x Barlow lens, you can view samples and objects between 40 and 2000x larger than with the naked eye!

The microscope set also comes with a number of fascinating permanent specimens, which can be stored permanently and allow you to start observing straight away. Simple place a slide on the specimen stage, and the bright LED will illuminate the contents in stunning detail. The light can be used in two ways: if your sample is transparent, you can use transmitted light mode, which illuminates the sample from below. Opaque samples such as coins or shells can be observed in reflected light mode, which illuminates the sample from above.

Collect your own samples and place them under the microscope

Once you know how to use the microscope, you can collect your own samples from your surroundings. As you will see for yourself, you will find lots of things that are worth observing in closer detail, such as feathers, hairs and petals. The microscope comes with a microscopy tool kit, which contains everything you need for making your own permanent specimens, including slides, tweezers, a dissecting needle, cover slips and much more. And thanks to the colour filter disc under the specimen stage, you can also view colourless or transparent samples in stunning detail.

Smartphone holder for photographing your discoveries

The microscope set comes with a smartphone holder, which allows you to capture images of your favourite discoveries. Simply place your phone in the holder, position the holder on the eyepiece of the microscope and open the camera app on your smartphone. You can then take stunning photos and videos to share with friends and family!
